The game unfolds through phases of simultaneous placement and resolution. The central dynamic combines open claims and secret force placement:
- Players move their Herald to different locations on the map, openly declaring their intentions to claim them.
- Simultaneously, players place cards from their hand, face down, in regions on the board, secretly positioning their forces.
