Scooby-Doo!: Betrayal at Mystery Mansion is a board game for 3-5 players, lasting approximately 50 minutes, inspired by the famous Betrayal at House on the Hill. Players take on the roles of Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, or Fred, with the initial goal of exploring a mysterious mansion and its surroundings. During this phase, players discover new rooms, find useful objects, and face strange events, trying to gather clues to understand what is happening.
The game unfolds in two distinct phases. The first is exploration and discovery:
- Players move across the map, revealing and adding new room tiles.
- Upon entering new rooms, they draw Event, Item, or Clue cards.
- The accumulation of clues or the occurrence of specific conditions triggers the Haunt.
Each game features one of 25 unique Haunt scenarios, inspired by Scooby-Doo episodes, with specific rules for the monster and for the heroes. The objective of the remaining group members is to stop the monster before it completes its plan. The asymmetrical nature and the wide variety of scenarios ensure high replayability.
