Fire in the Lake is a board game for 1-4 players that simulates the Vietnam War, the fourth volume in the celebrated COIN (Counterinsurgency) series by GMT Games. The game offers an asymmetric experience, where each faction pursues distinct victory objectives and uses specific mechanics. Players assume the role of one of four main factions: the US forces, the Government of South Vietnam (RVN), the People's Army of Vietnam (NVA), and the Viet Cong (VC).

Each turn begins with the revelation of an event card that determines the order of play and presents two options: a historical event or a combination of operations and special activities for the indicated factions.
