Get ready to immerse yourself in the intense and historical battles of World War II with Bolt Action, the renowned tabletop wargame that brings the global conflict directly to your table. Designed by veteran game designers Alessio Cavatore and Rick Priestley, this game, published by Osprey Games in 2012, provides you with all the necessary rules to recreate realistic wartime scenarios. With an average duration of 120 minutes and the ability to involve 2 to 6 players, Bolt Action is the ultimate experience for enthusiasts of military simulations.
The heart of Bolt Action lies in its ability to transport you to the conflict's most iconic battlefields. Using a wide range of detailed miniatures of soldiers, tanks, and scenery, you can relive epic clashes. Imagine fighting among the ruins of occupied French cities, leading your troops through the desolate deserts of North Africa, or facing dangers in the dense jungles of the Pacific. Each game is an opportunity to test your tactical and strategic skills in faithfully reproduced historical contexts, ensuring a deep immersion in historical wargaming.
Strategic freedom is a fundamental pillar of Bolt Action. Players have the opportunity to choose which of the major or minor World War II powers they wish to represent, from Allied to Axis forces. Subsequently, you can build your army by drawing from the provided lists, which offer an almost unlimited range of options. This flexibility allows you to assemble the formation that best suits your unique playstyle, whether you prefer a massive assault, flanking maneuvers, or a tenacious defense. Army customization is the key to dominating the battlefield.

Rules - Bolt Action
Bolt Action is a tabletop wargame that recreates World War II battles using miniatures. Players assemble and command armies composed of soldiers, vehicles, and artillery, deploying them on a three-dimensional battlefield with scenic elements. The game allows for the representation of major powers or minor nations of the conflict, offering ample freedom in building armies based on preferred playstyle, from infantry forces to armored columns.
The core of the gameplay revolves around unit activation using order dice. At the beginning of each turn, players place one die for each unit present on the field into a bag. These dice are drawn randomly one at a time, determining which player can activate one of their units and what action they can undertake. Typical actions include:
- Moving units on the battlefield.
- Opening fire against enemies.
- Charging into close combat.
- Going into an "Ambush" or "Down" position for cover.
Combat is resolved through dice rolls that consider unit statistics, terrain cover, and distance. The ultimate objective of a game varies depending on the chosen scenario, potentially including the destruction of enemy forces, control of strategic positions, or the completion of specific missions, requiring strategic planning and adaptation.
