The game ends when few cards remain in the deck. The scoring system is intuitive: the first card of a color is worth ±1 point, the second ±2, and so on (triangular system). The player with the highest score wins! Coloretto is a fast-paced and strategic card game for 2-5 players, with an average duration of approximately 30 minutes. The main objective is to collect cards of the same color, aiming to maximize positive scores and avoid negative ones. A player's turn is very simple and involves two possible actions:
- Draw a card from the deck and add it to one of the available rows on the table. Each row can contain a maximum of three cards.
- Take one of the complete rows of cards and immediately add them to your personal collection.
The key strategy in Coloretto lies in managing the colors you decide to accumulate. At the end of the game, only your three most numerous color collections will yield positive points. All other colors in your possession will count as negative points. There are special cards: Jokers, which can assume any desired color, and +2 cards, which provide bonus points regardless of the chosen colors. The score for each color is calculated using a triangular number system: the first card of a color is worth ±1 point, the second ±2 points, and so on.
The game continues with players alternating between drawing cards and taking rows, until only a few cards remain in the deck. At that point, the round ends, and scoring proceeds. Each player sums the points from their three best colors and subtracts those from the other colors. The player with the highest total score wins the game, demonstrating skill in balancing risk and reward in their choices.
